Sibanye Sees South Africa Platinum Union Growing in Gold

The South African union that led a five-month strike at the world’s biggest platinum producers this year is gaining ground in the gold-mining industry and may reach a majority by April, Sibanye Gold Ltd. said.

The Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union represents about 30 percent of employees in the gold industry and is winning members from the National Union of Mineworkers, the majority in gold, Chief Executive Officer Neal Froneman told reporters yesterday.
