When Kym Lee joined Sequoia Capital last year, she arranged for the venture capital firm to host a booth at the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing.
“We looked at it as kind of a trial run,” said Lee, a member of the firm’s human capital group, which helps its 120 portfolio companies find highly sought-after programmers. More than 1,200 women had registered to visit the kiosk at the Phoenix Convention Center before Lee even arrived there, and she was feeling good about the $10,000 or so Sequoia invested in the event. “I’m really pumped up.”
