China’s ruling Communist Party will convene starting Oct. 20 to discuss Xi Jinping’s efforts to bolster the rule of law in the world’s second-largest economy, state media reported yesterday.

The date of next session of the Central Committee was set during a Politburo meeting led by Xi, who serves as general secretary of the party as well as the country’s president, according to the state-run Xinhua News Agency. The panel also reviewed draft proposals for the committee’s so-called fourth plenum, which are subject to further revisions. The session is scheduled to end Oct. 23.
