Markit U.S. Factory Index Holds at More Than Four-Year High

The Markit Economics preliminary index of U.S. manufacturing held at a more than four-year high of 57.9 in September, the London-based group said today.
A reading above 50 for the purchasing managers’ measure indicates expansion and the measure this month matched the strongest since April 2010. The median forecast in a Bloomberg survey of 23 economists was 58, with estimates ranging from 55.6 to 60.
