Two soldiers who fought in the Vietnam War, one who sustained 18 wounds while rescuing fellow soldiers amid an enemy attack and a second who fell on a grenade to minimize others’ casualties, were awarded the military’s top decoration today.
“Two discreet moments, but today we honor two American soldiers for gallantry above and beyond the call of duty in each of those moments,” President Barack Obama said at a White House ceremony.
