Ron Hermance, Hudson City Bancorp CEO, Dies at 67

Ronald Hermance, Hudson City Bancorp’s chairman and chief executive officer who led the lender in its planned $3.7 billion merger with M&T Bank Corp., has died. He was 67.

Hermance died unexpectedly yesterday after a 26-year career at the Paramus, New Jersey-based bank, according to a statementBloomberg Terminal today from the company. No cause was given. Chief Operating Officer Denis J. Salamone, 61, was named to succeed him as CEO, the lender said in a subsequent news releaseBloomberg Terminal.
