NTSB Blames Pilot Errors, Not Fatigue, for UPS Cargo Crash

Federal investigators blamed the crew of a UPS cargo jet for a fatal August 2013 crash at an Alabama airport, an incident that sparked intense debate around whether cargo pilots should fly under different rest rules than their counterparts at passenger carriers.
Both pilots commanding the Airbus A300 flight were killed after striking trees while descending too rapidly, crashing short of the runway. The National Transportation Safety Board declined to blame fatigue for the crash, although the co-pilot’s failure to rest properly and the physical rigors of working at night were cited as contributing factors.
