Monster Beverage Asks Court to Void Subpoenas From N.Y.

Monster Beverage Corp., the energy-drink maker that agreed last month to sell a 17 percent stake to Coca-Cola Co., asked a court to block a subpoena issued by New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman as part of a two-year-old probe into the company’s marketing practices.

The company filed a petition in New York State Supreme Court in Manhattan today seeking to quash a subpoena issued last month seeking documents and the testimony of an employee of a Florida unit who oversees a team of college students that promote and market Monster drinks, mostly on campuses in the southern U.S.
