Nishikori Gives Asian Tennis a Chance in U.S. Open Final

When Kei Nishikori faces Marin Cilic in the U.S. Open men’s final, he’ll have more to contend with than the Croat’s booming serve. He’ll also be fighting to help Japan, and all of Asia, spur a comeback in the sport.
The 24-year-old’s upset of No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the semifinals made Nishikori the first man from Asia to play in the championship match of any of tennis’s four Grand Slam tournaments -- Wimbledon and the Australian, French and U.S. opens.
