European Union leaders will seek to widen financial sanctions on Russia at a summit tomorrow after Russian troops allegedly crossed into UkraineBloomberg Terminal, the German government’s envoy for relations with Russia said.

“The access of the Russian state and Russian companies to international financial flows has already been curtailed, and it’s very likely that these measures will be expanded,” Gernot Erler said in a phone interview today. “There’s still quite a bit of leeway” to tighten existing EU sanctions aimed at trade and the Russian economy, he said.
