New Zealand immigration officials have brought the nation’s first people-trafficking charges against three defendants.
Two men appeared in Nelson’s district court charged with arranging by deception the entry of 18 Indian nationals, Immigration New Zealand said in an e-mailed statement today. One of the men and a third person were also charged under the Immigration Act in relation to false refugee claims they organized and lodged for the Indians once they arrived.
