Weyerhaeuser Co., a real estate investment trust and owner of U.S. timberlands, plans to move its headquarters to a new development in downtown Seattle’s historic Pioneer Square district.

The company’s 430-acre (174-hectare) campus in Federal Way, Washington, “is costly and too large for our needs,” Chief Executive Officer Doyle R. Simons said today in a statementBloomberg Terminal. “Moving our headquarters to Seattle will give us access to a larger talent pool to meet future recruiting needs, not just in this region, but from across the country.”
