Tekmira’s Ebola Drug Trial Placed on Hold by U.S. FDA

Human tests of Tekmira Pharmaceuticals Corp.’s treatment for Ebola, one of the world’s most lethal diseases, have been put on hold by U.S. regulators due to safety concerns.

The Food and Drug Administration has requested additional information to ensure the drug is safe at higher doses, the company said today in a statementBloomberg Terminal. The therapy is in the first of three stages of clinical trials usually required by regulators for approval.
