Apollo Global Management LLC raised a $1.5 billion collateralized loan obligation, the largest fund formed in the U.S. this year, according to a person with knowledge of the deal.

The CLO surpasses a $1 billion fund raised last month by Onex Corp.’s credit-investment group. JPMorgan Chase & Co. arranged the Apollo deal, said the person, who asked not to be identified because the terms are private.
