OAO Mobile TeleSystems, Russia’s largest mobile operator, may resume business in Uzbekistan after leaving the country in 2012 because of a dispute with the government, owner Vladimir Evtushenkov said.
“We may return as soon as this year,” billionaire Evtushenkov, whose holding company AFK Sistema owns 51 percent of MTS, told reporters in St. Petersburg today. MTS may set up a new company, which would be part-owned by the Uzbek government, to operate in the country, he said.
