Facebook Bulls Buy WhatsApp Deal With 1.3 Million Calls

Count options traders among investors who have managed to get past concerns that Mark Zuckerberg is overpaying for WhatsApp Inc.

They’ve bought and sold 554,000 bullish calls on Facebook Inc. daily since Feb. 20, up from a 2014 average of 247,000, data compiled by Bloomberg show. The total reached 1.3 million on Feb. 20 and 21, higher than any time in the past four months. More than half of those were out of the money, representing bets that shares of the social network will keep climbing after they quadrupled since September 2012, the data show.
