A University of Maryland database was hacked, exposing more than 309,000 records of faculty, staff, students and affiliated personnel, President Wallace Loh said.

The records included names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth and university IDs of people who had been issued an ID since 1998, Loh said today in a letter to the college community. No other information was compromised, he said.
