Lawsky Said to Probe FX Trading at More Than a Dozen Banks

Benjamin Lawsky, New York’s top financial regulator, has asked more than a dozen banks including Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Deutsche Bank AG for documents related to their currency trading practices, a person familiar with the matter said.

Lawsky also requested information from Lloyds Banking Group Plc, Royal Bank of Scotland Plc, Credit Suisse Group AG and Standard Chartered Plc, according to the person, who asked not to be identified because the investigation isn’t public. Lawsky has asked for traders’ e-mails and instant messages to review whether they manipulated currency rates, the person said.
