Xylem Awarded Contract for Largest UV Wastewater Plant in Spain

Xylem Inc., whose pumps helped clear New York tunnels of Hurricane Sandy floodwaters, won a contract to supply its Wedeco technology that disinfects wastewater to the largest ultraviolet treatment plant in Spain.
The plant in the Vigo region in the northwest will serve 800,000 people and be the country’s biggest bio-filtration facility on completion, the Rye Brook, New York-based company said today in a statement. UV technologies that inactivate bacteria, parasites and viruses in waters are growing in popularity, Xylem said of the $2.75 million contract.
