Google E-Mail Issues Resolved After Earlier Disruptions

Google Inc. said service should be restored for its e-mail and other online services after disruptions earlier today.

The world’s biggest search provider began investigating issues with Gmail, calendar, documents and other Web tools earlier today after multiple Twitter Inc. users sent posts reporting problems with Google services.

Ensuring the availability of the e-mail feature is critical for Mountain View, California-based Google, which targets users with Web advertising. The company apologized to users in a post on its website today.

“Please rest assured that system reliability is a top priority at Google, and we are making continuous improvements to make our systems better,” Google said.

The disruption comes a month after rival Yahoo! Inc. had issues with its e-mail service that eventually led Chief Executive Officer Marissa Mayer to apologize to users. Mayer described the issues as a “major outage.”

Before it's here, it's on the Bloomberg Terminal.
