Mulally Bows Out of Microsoft CEO Race, Staying at Ford

Alan Mulally, chief executive officer of Ford Motor Co., said he plans to stay with the No. 2 U.S. automaker through 2014 and won’t leave for Microsoft Corp., underscoring the challenge of finding a new CEO to run the world’s largest software maker.

“I would like to end the Microsoft speculation because I have no other plans to do anything other than serve Ford,” Mulally, 68, told the Associated Press in an interview yesterday. Mulally said he will stay with Ford through at least this year. Jay Cooney, a spokesman, confirmed the remarks.
