Amiad Water Wins Filter Contract for U.S. Navy Aircraft CarrierRandall Hackley
Amiad Water Systems Ltd., an Israeli producer of water-treatment systems, won a contract to supply filters for making water on board the John F. Kennedy, the second ship of the new class of U.S. Navy aircraft carriers.
Terms weren’t disclosed of the award to Amiad USA Inc. by Newport News Shipbuilding Inc., a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries Inc., for advanced automatic screen filters.
Amiad filters were used on the first carrier of the class, the USS Gerald R. Ford, which launched Nov. 17, the company said today in a statement. Amiad under terms of the contract will supply self-cleaning filters that help protect the reverse-osmosis system on board that makes fresh water from the sea and extend the life of membranes.
Amiad Water, founded at an Israeli kibbutz, trades on London’s Alternative Investment Market.
