Steel reinforcement-bar futures in Shanghai climbed as the government in Hebei province began demolishing old blast furnaces.
Rebar for May delivery, the most-active contract by volume on the Shanghai Futures Exchange, rose 0.6 percent to close at 3,636 yuan ($597) a metric ton.
