University of Texas Seeks Approval for Race Preferences

The University of Texas has attained a diverse student body and shouldn’t be allowed to use racial preferences in admissions, argued a lawyer for a white woman who claims she was rejected in favor of less-qualified minorities.
Attorney Bert Rein told a three-judge U.S. appeals court panel today that UT’s minority enrollment exceeded 40 percent by 2008, the year it rejected Abigail Fisher while considering applicants’ race.
