A case of 2005 wine from Chateau Pontet-Canet, a Pauillac wine estate north of Bordeaux, sold for 996 pounds ($1,545) on the Liv-ex market in London, its lowest level since early March, as demand for Bordeaux wines slowed.

Yesterday’s transaction was 2 percent below the 1,020 pounds at which five deals took place between July 3 and Aug. 12, and was 15 percent down from the vintage’s peak of 1,175 pounds reached in July 2011 at the height of Chinese demand for Bordeaux, according to data on Liv-ex’s Cellar Watch website.
