South Sudan to Form National Revenue Authority Within Six Months

South Sudan plans to create a National Revenue Authority to improve tax collection and raise as much as 1.5 billion South Sudanese pounds ($469 million) this fiscal year, acting Finance Minister Marial Awou Yol said.
Members of the economic cluster in the country’s cabinet approved legislation last week enabling the creation of the authority, Yol said in an interview yesterday in the capital, Juba. The National Revenue Authority Bill will be tabled at a full cabinet meeting on Friday before being sent to parliament and the agency is expected to be created in six months, he said.
