Inventories in U.S. Increased 0.3% in April as Sales Fell

Inventories in the U.S. increased in April as sales declined for a second month, showing companies may limit orders to manufacturers.

Stockpiles rose 0.3 percent in April after a revised 0.1 percent decline that was initially reported as little changed, Commerce Department figures showed today in Washington. The median estimate in a Bloomberg survey called for a 0.3 percent advance. Sales fell 0.1 percent after dropping 1.2 percent.
