Isaac’s Top Winds Grow to 80 Mph on Path to Louisiana Landfall

Hurricane Isaac’s top winds increased to 80 miles (129 kilometers) an hour as the storm moved toward landfall later today on southeastern Louisana, the National Hurricane Center said.

Isaac was 30 miles south-southwest of the mouth of the Mississippi River as of 4 p.m. local time and was moving northwest at 8 mph. The storm is expected to remain a Category 1 hurricane at landfall, the center said.
