Brown Submits Signatures for California Tax Increase Vote

California Governor Jerry Brown’s campaign to raise sales and income taxes to help erase his state’s resurgent budget gap has more than enough signatures to place the measure on the November ballot, a spokeswoman said.
Backers will begin submitting 1.3 million signatures to county elections officials across the state today, more than the approximately 800,000 needed to qualify, said Gale Kaufman, a Democratic political consultant in Sacramento who advised the campaign.
