Alberto Soares, the head of Portugal’s debt office, will resign at the end of this month after his mandate ended in February, the agency said in an e-mailed statement late yesterday.

The debt agency, known as the IGCP, also said in the statement that a new board will be appointed after the publication of a law giving it new powers.
