Irish Economy May Take Off ‘Like a Rocket,’ Noonan Says

Ireland’s economy is poised to “take off like a rocket” if global economic growth picks up, Finance Minister Michael Noonan said.

The government predicts that gross domestic product will expand about 2 percent next year, or 4 percent including inflation, Noonan told journalists today in Paris. Nominal growth could increase to as much as 6 percent if the world economy expands more quickly than expected, he added.
