Crowdfunding: Don't Call It an IPO

Prospects for more easily collecting finite amounts of money from an unlimited number of investors are looking up

Small businesses trying to raise money face a tangle of securities laws that make it tough to sell shares. Legislation backed by the President and approved by the House would allow for “crowdfunding,” or raising small amounts from many investors, without registering for a costly public offering.
