Merck Gains on Boosting Dividend for First Time Since 2004

Merck & Co., the second-biggest U.S. drugmaker, gained the most in three months after the company raised its dividend for the first time since 2004 and emphasized drug discovery in a meeting with analysts.
Merck rose 3.5 percent to $34.97 at the close in New York, the biggest single-day increase since Aug. 11. The shares have fallen 3 percent this year.
