Medvedev Tells Europe to Solve Crisis to Boost Gas Demand

President Dmitry Medvedev said Russia expects Europe to overcome its debt crisis and increase demand for gas imports, as he warned against “artificial barriers” being raised to closer energy ties.
Russia aims to ramp up energy cooperation with Europe, where gas demand may reach 200 billion cubic meters by 2020, Medvedev said today in the northern German town of Lubmin, where he joined Chancellor Angela Merkel and other leaders to mark the opening of Nord Stream AG, the first direct gas pipeline connecting Russia and western Europe.
