Hungarian Golden Ball Winner Albert Dies at 70, Ferencvaros Says

Florian Albert, Hungary’s only Golden Ball winning soccer player, died today at the age of 70, his club Ferencvaros said on its website.

The player, who was European player of the year in 1967, played his entire career with Ferencvaros. He was the joint-top goal scorer at the 1962 World Cup, and was part of the Hungarian team that reached the last four in the European Championships two years later.
