TSMC Rises to 1-Week High on New York Chip Venture with Intel

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. rose to the highest in a week in Taipei trading after New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said the state signed agreements with five companies including Intel Corp., International Business Machines Corp.,Globalfoundries Inc., and Samsung Electronics Co.

The stock gained 1.1 percent to NT$70.70 as of 9:05 a.m., set for the highest close since Sept. 21. The companies are investing $4.4 billion over five years to create a research and development hub for nanotechnology.
