France Urged to Toughen Nuclear Stress Tests After Accident

An explosion and fire at a French nuclear-waste processing site killed one person and injured four, spurring calls to beef up safety tests begun in the aftermath of Japan’s Fukushima atomic disaster.

There was no chemical or radioactive leak from the incident yesterday at the Centraco plant in the town of Codolet in southern France, Carole Trivi, a spokeswoman for owner Electricite de France SA, said by telephone.
