Vietnam Rice Exports Forecast at 600,000 Tons in August

Vietnam, the world’s second-biggest rice exporter, may ship 600,000 metric tons this month, according to figures released today from the General Statistics Office in Hanoi, 2.44 percent less than in the same period last year.

The nation exported 652,000 tons in July, down 6.86 percent from a previous assessment of 700,000 tons, revised figures from the Statistics Office show. Exports in the first eight months of 2011 were estimated at 5.31 million tons, up 6.5 percent from a year earlier.
