Arab League Calls on U.N. to Release Frozen Libyan Assets

The Arab League’s peace process committee has called on the U.N. Security Council to release $2.5 billion in frozen Libyan assets to pay salaries and meet humanitarian needs, according to a statement released after the meeting.
The ministers on the committee, including representatives from Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, invited the Libyan rebel council to attend a ministerial meeting on Aug. 27, according to the statement.
