Kosovo Should Focus on Industry, Trade to Boost Growth, IMF Says

Kosovo needs to curb the deficit and rely more on developing trade and competitiveness than on cash from Kosovars working abroad to control unemployment as the economy picks up steam, the International Monetary Fund said.
Growth in gross domestic product should top 5 percent this year, compared with 4 percent in 2010, the Washington-based IMF said in a statement late yesterday. Still, it was unable to complete its review of the former Serbian province because the approved 2011 budget deviated from earlier commitments following “large” state wage increases.
