NTPC Coal Imports Short of May Target, India Coal Market Reports

NTPC Ltd., India’s biggest power producer, imported 1.24 million metric tons of coal in May, India Coal Market Watch reported, citing its own data.
The Central Electricity Authority, a supervisory body, had set a target of 1.29 million tons for NTPC last month, according to the coal newsletter published by Kolkata-based online trading company mjunction Services Ltd. CESC Ltd. purchased 298,000 tons of the fuel from overseas last month, and the West Bengal Power Development Corp. imported 163,000 tons, according to the note.
