Volcano Plume Drifts to Southern Chile as Tremors Weaken

The number, duration and intensity of tremors caused by the eruption yesterday of a volcano in southern Chile are declining as its 8-kilometer (5 miles) plume of smoke has drifted toward southern Chile.

“Tremors in the area have become weaker and less frequent,” Chilean President Sebastian Pinera said in comments televised by Canal 24 Horas.
