“The Hangover Part II” was the top film in the U.S. and Canada this weekend, generating $86.5 million in receipts for Warner Bros., and making it the best debut ever for a comedy.
The 3-D feature “Kung Fu Panda 2,” a follow-up to DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc.’s 2008 film, opened in second place with $48 million, Hollywood.com Box-Office said yesterday in an e-mailed statement.
