Gilani Meets Hu as Pakistan, China Beef Up Military Ties

Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Chinese President Hu Jintao met today in Beijing amid signs the countries are boosting already close military ties in the wake of the U.S. raid that killed Osama bin Laden.

Pakistani Defense Minister Ahmad Mukhtar said in an interview today in Beijing that his country aims to take delivery of 50 JF-17 fighter aircraft that it jointly produces with China within six months. Mukhtar said May 18 that Pakistan was also in talks to buy FC-20 jets from China.
