German Ministry Won’t Comment on Portugal Bailout Report

The German Finance Ministry declined to comment on a newspaper report that Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble expects Portugal to seek an international bailout by June.

The decision to apply for aid from the European Union’s fund for debt-strapped euro countries, the European Financial Stability Facility, is up to each country, ministry spokesman Volker Schlechtriemen said by phone. “There’s no change in the situation.”
