Niger Presidential Elections ‘Transparent,’ African Union Says

Niger’s second round of presidential elections were “fair and transparent,” African union observers head Khalifa Babacar Sall said in a statement.
“The vote was free, transparent and peaceful,” Khalifa Babacar Sall said. Mahamadou Issoufou leads Seini Oumarou 405,547 votes to 286,137, according to preliminary results announced by the Electoral Commission. Results for 120 of 266 municipalities are expected Monday morning.
