The Italian government fixed no limit for solar plant projects in regulations on clean energy released today, leaving in place incentives that may result in a boom in installations in the next three months.

Environment Minister Stefania Prestigiacomo said the government scrapped a proposal to impose a cap of 8 gigawatts on solar capacity, “which would have risked blocking the development of the sector.” The government plans to issue new targets and to reduce incentive rates from June, she said.
