Madagascar Finds Three Opposition Leaders Guilty After Protests

Three leading members of Madagascar’s opposition were found guilty of participating in a banned protest held before a Nov. 17 referendum.
Fetison Andrianirina, head of the party loyal to former President Marc Ravalomanana, was given a 13-month suspended sentence, while the other two were given 10-month suspended sentences, their lawyer, Hanitra Rasafimanantsoa, said by phone from the capital, Antananarivo, today.
