Spain’s opposition People’s Party extended its lead over the ruling Socialists to more than 10 percentage points, according to a poll by the state-run Center for Sociological Research.

The PP would win 44.1 percent of the vote if elections were held now, compared with 34 percent for Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero’s Socialist party, the survey showed. In the previous poll three months ago, the PP was seen winning 42.2 percent, compared with 34.3 percent for the Socialists.
