Algeria Opposition Plans Feb. 12 Street Protest, Bouchachi Says

Algerian opposition groups, inspired by events in Egypt and Tunisia, will hold a demonstration on Feb. 12 in Algiers in defiance with an official ban on street protests in the capital, Mustapha Bouchachi, head of the League for the Defence of Human Rights, said.
“We have decided to go ahead with the march regardless of the final decision of the authorities,” Bouchachi said in a telephone interview in Algiers.
